Editorial Policy
Scope
Kashmir Journal of Legal Studies, is an open-access electronic-only journal that publishes articles on issues and trends occurring in research.
The journal particularly welcomes both short, rigorous, and long articles reporting on emerging theoretical, methodological and empirical approaches. An outlet is provided for publishing in-depth studies, including articles involving a thoroughly elaborated theoretical framework, extensive qualitative data, or complex analytical techniques.
The journal adopts the following review process:-
Review Process
Kashmir Journal of Legal Studiesadopts a double peer reviewing policy. Both the author(s) and reviewers remain to be anonymous throughout the entire process of review. All the identifying features are removed during reviewing process to maintain the confidentiality.
Review Procedure
The review process mainly organised in two stages. The article is first checked in terms of the required technical standards, formatting style, etc. adopted by the journal. The authors are informed immediately after submission on whether their article will be considered for review on the basis of the adopted criteria. After going through the initial process, the articles is reviewed by two reviewers and on the basis of the reports received, the Editors decision can be :
- Accepted
- Minor review
- Major review
- Rejected
The authors are thereafter informed about the decision and reviewers comments and modifications needed. After complying the reviewers comments, the paper can be accepted and the authors informed accordingly.
Frequency
All accepted manuscripts selected will be published as soon as they are ready for publication.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access its content making research freely available to the public that supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
Kashmir Journal of Legal Studies(ISSN xxxxxx ) is an Open Access journal, which is free to access and read on the Internet. Journal guarantees that no University library or individual reader will ever have to buy a subscription or buy access hence does not have any income from selling subscriptions to the print or online version of this journal or from pay-per-view fees.
In order to cover the costs of providing and maintaining a publication infrastructure, managing the journals, and processing the manuscripts through peer-review and the editorial procedure, the journal uses a form of conditional submission fee referred to as Article Processing Charge (APC). Thepublication fees of Rs 2000/- is to cover costs to cover administrative charges, reviewing and partly to support the publication charges. However, a fee of Rs. 2000/- also may apply for all articles which cover costs involved in editing/formatting and/or English editing.
Ethical Policy
Journal is dedicated to maintaining high standards of publication ethics. Publishing a manuscript in a peer reviewed journal is an important step for an editor, Publisher, an Author and also for the society as a whole for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge. It directly endorses the quality of work done by the author and the institution to which one belongs. Science a research based manuscript involves a certain methodology and, therefore, it becomes mandatory to follow certain ethics which must be considered in the following cases
Authorship
All manuscripts expected to be published in Kashmir Journal of Legal Studies are expected to possess clear and correct attribution of authorship. Only those individuals who have made a significant contribution to the origin, planning, execution and analysis of the study should be cited as authors. Any other individual who may also have contributed to the study should be acknowledged too
Originality
Submission of a manuscript implies that the work reported in the manuscript has not been published earlier and is also not under consideration for publication anywhere else. Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to different journals is not acceptable
Plagiarism
Replicating content from different papers without properly citing the source (plagiarism) or publishing many papers with similar content by the same authors (self-plagiarism) is not acceptable. Authors must ensure that they have produced original work, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, then it must be properly cited or quoted. Kashmir Journal of Legal Studies checks every manuscript for plagiarism using the plagiarism detection tool before it is sent to the reviewers. If an insignificant amount of plagiarism is detected that includes minor copying of short sentences, then authors are contacted and asked to reframe the highlighted sentences or to give proper citation. Only then are the articles sent for peer review. However, if a large amount of plagiarism is detected, then the same is pointed out to the authors. The submission is rejected if the contribution is not found satisfactory on any of the abovementioned counts
Citations and Attributions
Manuscripts submitted for publication must contain citations to previous work or previously published articles which are directly applicable to the results being reported. Contributors are expected to carefully check the accuracy and appropriateness of cited literature as to the other components of the manuscript
Date Access and retention
Contributors may be asked to present the raw data associated with the manuscript for editorial review. Authors should retain the data for a reasonable period following the publication and authors may be asked to provide public access to such data upon request. However, exceptions may be there in certain circumstances, such as to ensure copyright protection or for other similar reasons
Conflict of Interest
All manuscripts submitted must include disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a possible conflict of interest. It is the responsibility of a manuscript's corresponding author to confirm if any of the contributors hold any conflict of interest. The corresponding author may be asked by the editors to furnish a written declaration that there is no conflict of interest on the part of any of the contributors
